In under three minutes, the Common Craft video “Ford SYNC in Plain
English” explains exactly how the voice-activated, in-car
communications technology known as SYNC lets Ford customers play music,
call friends or receive text messages, without ever taking a hand off
the wheel.
Using only a whiteboard, hands and paper cutouts, the video shows
how SYNC’s sophisticated technology – developed by Ford in partnership
with Microsoft – allows users to access their MP3 players and navigate
by song, artist, album or playlist using simple voice commands. It also
covers how Ford customers can use almost any Bluetooth-enabled phone
with SYNC to make hands-free calls. SYNC will even read text messages
over the vehicle’s speakers, so drivers can keep their eyes on the road.
Simply by pushing a button on the steering wheel, Ford owners can
stay connected to their friends, their work and their music. SYNC is
affordable, factory-installed and optional on most Ford cars,
crossovers, SUVs and trucks.
Ford partnered with Common Craft, an online video production company
that is well known for creating videos that make complex ideas easy to
understand using the distinctive format they call Paperworks. In
addition to the “Ford SYNC in Plain English” video, Common Craft has
created videos viewed by millions of people online, including “RSS in
Plain English” and “Wikis in Plain English.”
