Aluminum could be the future for the Ford F-150. The next generation of the Ford F-150s might start utilizing more aluminum in order to meet tightening fuel economy regulations. By using this light weight material Ford will be able to cut 700 pounds from its frame which would make its powertrain more efficient and give the F-150 a 25-percent increase in fuel economy.
The aluminumization of the F-Series is not scheduled in the near future, but Ford is keep their options open. One of the biggest challenges with an aluminium body would be the difficuly in repairing it. But, while…
